{"id":2690,"date":"2021-10-03T09:45:08","date_gmt":"2021-10-03T08:45:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sepri.pt\/noticia\/whitening-implants-and-braces-answers-to-the-most-common-questions\/"},"modified":"2021-10-03T09:45:08","modified_gmt":"2021-10-03T08:45:08","slug":"whitening-implants-and-braces-answers-to-the-most-common-questions","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sepri.pt\/en\/noticia\/whitening-implants-and-braces-answers-to-the-most-common-questions\/","title":{"rendered":"Whitening, implants and braces: answers to the most common questions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On this World Dental Day, our dentist, Dr. Cristina Gamboa Torres, answers some of the most frequently asked questions about the whitening process (tooth whitening), implant placement and fixed orthodontic braces.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How is teeth whitening done?<br \/>\nWhat results can I expect? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Teeth whitening is done in the office in 1, 2 or 3 sessions.<br \/>\nWhitening lightens the color of the tooth, but for teeth to be completely white, as we see on social media, crowns or veneers are often necessary.<br \/>\nThere are whitening treatments that can be carried out at home, with trays and specific whitening agents, but in any case it is always advisable to have professional advice.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Orthodontics: is treatment with fixed braces painful?<br \/>\nHow long until the teeth are corrected? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The treatment is not painful.<\/p>\n<p>The length of time always depends on each case and the type of malocclusion, and can vary from 1 year to 2 years on average.<br \/>\nIf the case is severe, treatment may last longer.<br \/>\nIt should be noted that orthodontics can be corrective, interceptive and\/or preventive.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Are dental implants permanent?<br \/>\nWill I lose teeth during the placement process? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Implants replace the lost tooth, in which case a crown can be fitted.<br \/>\nWhen more teeth have been lost, a full or partial prosthesis can be placed, either fixed or with retainers.<br \/>\nWhat determines the placement of provisionals or immediate crowns is the primary stability of the implant placement.<br \/>\nPlanning with the dentist can determine the best solution for each case.<br \/>\nAfter implants have been placed, the patient should visit the dentist every 6 months to check hygiene and the supporting tissues around the implant.    <\/p>\n<p><strong>Can the dental implant be lost?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Implant loss can occur, although it is not very common.<br \/>\nLoss can occur due to infection, lack of stability during surgery or some complication during the treatment itself.<br \/>\nIt is therefore important to have informed consent and to discuss with each patient the risks and the rules to be followed to avoid them.  <\/p>\n<p><strong>Is there a right age to get braces?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Orthodontics can be corrective, interceptive and\/or preventive.<br \/>\nIt can start as early as 6 or 7 years old or even in adulthood.<br \/>\nIt&#8217;s important to note that the treatment margin depends on the patient&#8217;s growth and cooperation.  <\/p>\n<p>On World Dental Day, it&#8217;s important to stress the importance of ongoing prevention.
