On March 28th, a blood drive will take place in Braga between 14h00 and 19h00.
\nIf you want to be part of this cause, we need you to confirm your presence by filling in this form<\/a>. <\/p>\n

 The collection will take place at headquarters of the Lions Club of Braga<\/a>, <\/strong>near the train station,<\/strong> by a clinical team from the <\/strong>Instituto Portugu\u00eas do Sangue e da Transplanta\u00e7\u00e3o in partnership with SEPRI – Medicina do Trabalho.
\nIn this article, we answer some of the most frequently asked questions about blood donation. <\/p>\n

I’m pregnant.
\nCan I give blood? <\/h3>\n

You cannot give blood while you are pregnant.
\nYou can apply to donate blood 6 months after giving birth. <\/p>\n

I tested positive for COVID-19.
\nCan I give blood? <\/h3>\n

Donor candidates who have had COVID-19 should wait 14 days after the resolution of symptoms and clinical recovery.<\/p>\n

Is my blood type necessary?<\/h3>\n

Yes.
\nAll blood groups are necessary, even those that are most common.
\nIf you think that the most common group is A+, this is also the most necessary. <\/p>\n

I’m menstruating.
\nCan I give blood? <\/h3>\n

A hemoglobin test is carried out during the donor’s clinical assessment.
\nIf the hemoglobin value is greater than or equal to 12.5gr\/dl and you don’t have menstrual cramps, you can give blood. <\/p>\n

I have diabetes.
\nCan I give blood? <\/h3>\n

Yes.
\nYou can give blood as long as your blood glucose levels are normal and you’re not taking insulin. <\/p>\n

I’m over 65 years old.
\nCan I give blood? <\/h3>\n

There is no age limit for donating blood.
\nDonors over the age of 65 may give blood with the authorization of the blood service doctor. <\/p>\n

I have a tattoo.
\nCan I give blood? <\/h3>\n

You can give blood 4 months after getting the tattoo.<\/p>\n

Is special care needed after the donation?<\/h3>\n

Around 450ml of blood will be taken from you.
\nIt is important to drink more fluids (water) before and after the donation so that the volume is easily replenished. <\/p>\n

After donating blood, anyone can return to their normal profession.
\nHowever, some activities, such as working at height, should not be carried out in the hours following the donation.
\nAll recommendations will be given to you by the qualified health professional who accompanies you during the donation. <\/p>\n
