{"id":2798,"date":"2023-12-07T15:13:51","date_gmt":"2023-12-07T15:13:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sepri.pt\/noticia\/lisbon-occupational-medicine-consultations-and-exams-what-do-i-need-to-know\/"},"modified":"2023-12-07T15:13:51","modified_gmt":"2023-12-07T15:13:51","slug":"lisbon-occupational-medicine-consultations-and-exams-what-do-i-need-to-know","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sepri.pt\/en\/noticia\/lisbon-occupational-medicine-consultations-and-exams-what-do-i-need-to-know\/","title":{"rendered":"Lisbon Occupational Medicine | Consultations and exams: what do I need to know?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sepri.pt\/pt\/noticia\/medicina-do-trabalho-import%C3%A2ncia\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Occupational health<\/a> consultations are both a right and a duty for workers and it is the duty of companies to ensure that they are available.<br \/>\nIt should be noted that the consultation or examination should not cost the worker anything and should, whenever possible, be scheduled during working hours. <\/p>\n<h3><strong>How does an occupational health consultation work?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sepri.pt\/pt\/noticia\/medicina-do-trabalho-em-Portugal\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">occupational medicine consultation<\/a> has the same structure as a general medical consultation, the main difference being that the doctor will focus on collecting data related to the professional activity.<br \/>\nThe worker will be consulted by the occupational doctor and the occupational nurse, with the latter carrying out the auxiliary diagnostic tests requested by the doctor to determine fitness for work. <\/p>\n<h3><strong>Medical examinations<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>Tests are requested according to the health risks of the workplace and may include, for example, eye screening, audiograms, electrocardiograms or other specific tests associated with specific risks, such as clinical analyses for workers exposed to ionizing radiation or chemical agents.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What does the law say?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Health examinations are procedures for systematically collecting information with the aim of determining a worker&#8217;s professional suitability and monitoring their health.<br \/>\n <a href=\"https:\/\/diariodarepublica.pt\/dr\/detalhe\/lei\/102-2009-490009\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Law 102\/2009<\/a>, in its current wording, establishes the existence of <strong>three types of<\/strong> occupational health <strong>examinations<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sepri.pt\/pt\/noticia\/medicina-do-trabalho-perguntas-frequentes\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">admission examinations, periodic examinations and occasional examinations<\/a>. <\/p>\n<h3><strong>What happens after the consultation?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>At the end of the occupational health consultation, the worker&#8217;s Medical Aptitude Form (FAM) is filled in.<br \/>\nThis document can declare the worker to be &#8220;fit&#8221;, &#8220;conditionally fit&#8221;, &#8220;temporarily unfit&#8221;
