Vaccination against seasonal flu helps to reduce the incidence of people infected with the flu virus (Influenza), who in turn stop coming to hospitals, reducing transmission and allowing for a more accurate diagnosis of the Coronavirus.
According to the DGS, flu vaccination is strongly recommended for:
-
People aged 65 and over
-
Chronic and immunosuppressed patients (from six months of age)
-
Pregnant women
-
Diabetics
-
Health professionals and other care providers (e.g. in nursing homes)
Given the pandemic situation in which we live, this year the groups recommended for vaccination against seasonal flu may be extended as a way of preventing the simultaneous circulation of the flu virus and the new coronavirus.
The seasonal flu vaccination service will be available at any health center or clinic accredited for this purpose, and the vaccine must be prescribed and administered by health professionals under all safety conditions.
SEPRI has a vaccination service for individuals or groups, which includes prescription + vaccine + administration, as in previous years.
