You tested positive for COVID-19.
What now?
If you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and your doctor has assessed you and determined that your clinical situation does not require hospitalization, you should remain in isolation.
The length of time you should remain in isolation will be communicated to you by the Health Authority or clinician accompanying you.
It is essential to stay at home during the isolation period, even if you have no symptoms.
During this time, to avoid infecting other members of the household or third parties, take the following precautions:
-
Stay at home: don’t go to work, school or public places, or use public transport.
-
Don’t share items: don’t share plates, glasses, kitchen utensils, towels, sheets or other objects.
-
Call the doctor beforehand: avoid unnecessary trips to health services and call ahead to check out alternatives.
-
Wear a mask if necessary: you should wear a mask if you are with other people, in case contact cannot be avoided at some point.
-
Monitor symptoms: take your temperature daily and report any worsening symptoms.
-
Social distancing: they should stay in their own room in the house and avoid contact with others in common spaces.
-
Don’t receive visitors: don’t invite people to your home and, if you need to speak to someone urgently, do so by telephone or other digital means.
-
Wash your hands frequently: wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds several times a day.
-
When sneezing and coughing: cover your mouth and nose with a disposable tissue, throw the tissue away and wash your hands.
-
Take care with waste: put the waste you produce in a different plastic bag from the rest.
