In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, vaccination has been brought forward and extended to include professionals working in contexts with a higher risk of outbreaks and greater susceptibility and vulnerability.
The 2nd vaccination phase begins today, Monday.
In this 2nd phase of the vaccination campaign, priority will be given to other risk groups, including people over 65 and people with chronic illnesses.
However, anyone who does not belong to these risk groups, but is working in contexts with a higher risk of outbreaks and greater susceptibility and vulnerability, should also be vaccinated.
The Deputy Secretary of State for Health, António Lacerda Sales, said last Monday that “flu vaccination is also one of the components of success in this battle” against Covid-19.
Vaccination against seasonal flu will help to limit as much as possible the simultaneous circulation of the Influenza virus (flu virus) and SARS-COV-2 (new coronavirus), which in turn will help to reduce demand on health professionals, limit contagion and boost accurate diagnoses.
