O Test test Saliva is a Test RT-PCR processed in the laboratory in a similar way to the test Conventional PCR , differing only in the collection method.
As it’s done with a saliva sample, it’s a less evasive and less uncomfortable test.
It has been in high demand, especially among parents of children who find it difficult to perform the test with a swab.
The PCR test with a saliva sample is just as reliable as the traditional PCR test.
The Directorate-General for Health has even included these tests in the National Testing Strategy for SARS-Cov-2.
As it is a more convenient method, it is especially recommended for children, although it is not exclusive to them.
If you have a prescription for a PCR test, you may choose, under certain circumstances, to do it using the saliva sample collection method.
