Framework – Medical assessment of surveillance staff
In order to be admitted and remain in the private security profession, under the terms of Article 22(7) of Law 34/2013, of May 16, as amended and republished by Law 46/2019, of July 8, the professional must possess the minimum physical and psychological fitness conditions required for the performance of their duties (set out in Annexes I and II of the aforementioned Law).
The medical certificate and psychological assessment certificate are submitted online via the Integrated Private Security Management System (SIGESP).
Only occupational physicians registered with SIGESP can conduct the medical assessment process for these professionals.
The current law also requires that the Psychological Assessment of Private Security Personnel be mandatory for admission to and retention in this profession.
Psychologists and occupational physicians are responsible for assessing those aspiring to a career in private security, following the legal provisions that determine the assessment of physical, mental and psychological aptitude.
In the process, they draw up the psychological and medical assessment certificates and submit them to the Integrated Private Security Management System (SIGESP) for the purposes of applying for or renewing the professional card.
